Registration & Admissions Policy

Introduction

Diyafah International School LLC takes pride in being an esteemed member of the Abu Dhabi community of schools. Aim

The purpose of the Registration & Admissions Policy is to ensure that the admissions process is consistent and fair to all applicants. The Principal of the School has overall responsibility for admissions and the procedure of this Policy. The selection criteria and assessment procedures are reviewed from time to time. The Registration & Admissions Policy is regularly monitored and reviewed and may subject to change.

Diyafah International School, Abu Dhabi is a co-educational, non-selective school that welcomes applications from all nationalities and ability groups and offers the English National Curriculum. The Principal and Registrar have responsibility for the admissions to the school and will guide applicants through the application process.

1. Policy

1.1 To be available to all those seeking admission in Diyafah International School, this policy emphasizes and reiterates that all students who qualify for admissions in accordance with the regulations of ADEK will get equal treatment and will not be denied admission owing to any differences whatsoever if vacancies are available.

1.2 To admit all nationalities who are permitted to be admitted in a British curriculum school in Abu Dhabi, as per ADEK guidelines.

2. Process of Admission

All those who are looking for admission need to register online through our website, www.diyafahinternationalschool.com. Parents can also walk into the campus and meet our admission registrar who will guide and help to complete the registration formalities. The admission process is designed/meant to evaluate new applications on a common ground for students from different nationalities and educational backgrounds.

Final decision on admission will depend upon a combination of Age Criteria, Test results (Year 2 and above), personal meeting and availability of seats. Age requirements for admission to each year group will strictly be in accordance with ADEK requirement. All Foundation stage pupils must be fully toilet trained before starting school.

2.1 Admission Process

  1. Online Application Submission
    • Parents applying for admissions are required to register online.
    • Mandatory attachments: Passport copy of the student & most recent school report card, if your student has been to school/nursery.
  2. Admission Interview & Test
    • Stay & play for FS1 and FS2 applicants
    • Pearson based baseline assessment for Year 1 applicants
    • CAT4 test for Year 2 - Year 11 applicants
    • Interview with the Head of Secondary/Key Stage Coordinator for Year 12 & Year 13 applicants
  3. Acceptance & Admissions

    If the student is accepted into the school, the parent will receive an offer for a place from the Admissions Team. They must respond within 7 days to secure the place.

  4. Submission of Required Documentation

    Parents are required to submit all the required documentation online. Admission is confirmed only on payment of the registration fees. When applying for SEN admissions supporting documents, including any SEN External Assessments or Reports, should be uploaded together with the Online Registration.

  5. Fees

    Upon confirmation, a registration fee amounting to 5% of the school fees will be charged (non-refundable). Parents will also be required to pay the school fees via an online bank transfer and issue post-dated cheques once school resumes. On cancellation of admission, the fees will be refunded as per the ADEK guidelines.

2.2 Documents to be Submitted

We require the following documents to be submitted at the time of registration:

  1. Passport copy of the student and both the parents
  2. Birth certificate copy of the student
  3. Copy of the Emirates ID of the student & both the parents
  4. 1 recent passport size photograph of the student with a white background
  5. Copy of the Immunisation record
  6. Transfer Certificate from the last school with the required attestation
  7. Most recent school report card

2.3 Age Criteria

Age is calculated as on 31st August of the respective year of admission.

Upon payment of registration fees, below are the ADEK Requirements:

If the student is new to Abu Dhabi or joining a school for the first time in Abu Dhabi, parents must visit the school with the original Emirates IDs of the student and both the parents to complete the ADEK registration.

  • Children studying in schools within Abu Dhabi- To submit the final report card from the current academic year upon receiving the same from the school. The online transfer from the current school must be done before the student begins school with us. If the student is coming from an Asian curriculum school/ Government school in Abu Dhabi, the current school must withdraw the student, and the parent must visit us with the original Emirates Id of both the student and parents.
  • For children currently studying in schools outside of Abu Dhabi, below are the documentation requirements.
    • Final report card from the current academic year upon receiving the same from the school. The transfer certificate with the attestations must be submitted before the student begins school with Diyafah International School.

  • Transfer from other Emirates

    Transfer Certificate (TC) should be duly attested by the Education Zone from where the student last studied.

  • Overseas transfer
    • GCC Countries- The transfer certificate to be attested by the Ministry of Education from the country where the student last studied.
    • Northern Europe, Britain, France, Greece, Australia, Canada & North America- The transfer certificate must be duly stamped and signed by the principal from the school from which the student is transferring.
    • Arab Countries & rest of the world- Transfer certificate and final report card/mark list must be attested by the Embassy of the country where the student last studied and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
