STUDENTS LEADERSHIP AND STUDENT COUNCIL POLICY

Rationale

The Student Council at Diyafah International School serves as a vital platform for student empowerment and leadership development. Primarily, it acts as a liaison between the student body and the school administration, enabling students to have a voice in school affairs. The council's objectives include initiating, implementing, and completing projects and activities beneficial to the school, students, faculty, and the wider community.

The Student Council provides opportunities for students to develop leadership skills by organizing and managing various school activities and service projects. Through these activities, students learn to work collaboratively, addressing school issues and organizing events, which fosters a sense of responsibility and community engagement.

Our Student Council plays a crucial role in enhancing the overall school environment by promoting school spirit and creating a more inclusive and supportive atmosphere. By providing a platform for diverse voices and ideas, it contributes to a more dynamic and engaging school experience for all students.

  3. Organizing School Activities and Events: Student Councils are responsible for planning and executing school activities, events, and service projects, fostering a vibrant and engaging school community
  4. School Improvement: Initiating and implementing projects and activities that benefit and enhance the school environment, contributing to the welfare of students, faculty, and the overall school community
  5. Promoting Democratic Processes: Operating on parliamentary procedures, Student Councils allow students to present ideas, vote, and participate in decision-making processes, thus promoting democratic values and active citizenship within the school setting

Context

Diyafah International School is a proud member of the Abu Dhabi community of schools. One of the main roles of any school is to prepare its’ students for a full, active and positive integration with the society in which the school is placed. In our context, we are located in the most prestigious United Arab of Emirates. Therefore, our school is required to teach students about the values, traditions, culture and special benefits of living, working and studying in our host country. For Emirati nationals, and for non-Emirati residents, this is an opportunity to enjoy, appreciate and learn about the values, culture, history and traditions of the country in which we live, work and learn.
