BYOD Policy
Years 3 to 13
Dear Parents/Students,
Diyafah International School integrates a greater use of technology in school via Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy. Students of Years 3 to 13 will be permitted to bring ONE preferred device such as a laptop (preferred device for school) to school to enhance their learning.
Recommended Device
The school recommends the following device specification:
- Latest Windows operating system
- RAM: 8 GB to 16 GB
- Processor: Intel i5 or above
- Storage: SSD 500 GB or higher
Students will often work in pairs and groups to share resources in the classroom for collaborative projects and lessons. Parents are requested to note that students are fully responsible for bringing their own device fully charged for the school day. The school will not hold responsibility for any loss or damage.
To track devices, students must register their device with Diyafah IT by submitting the online form and accepting the related terms and conditions. Passwords for registered students will be sent to their official school email account through Microsoft 365 Premium for Education.
Terms, Conditions & Guidelines
- Students must take full responsibility for their devices while at school. Devices must be stored in a secure location. Devices are stored at owner’s risk
- Each student will be given a unique password which should not be shared with other students.
- All students must be aware of and agree to the Misuse of BYOD in School Policy. Click this link to read and agree
- A paid antivirus solution such as Trend Micro, Norton, or McAfee must remain active.
- Students will use Microsoft 365 Premium A5 License for Education in school.
- A school sticker placed on the device allows the device to enter school.
- Devices to be used with the guidance of teachers, in and around the classrooms only. Devices cannot be used during assessments, unless otherwise directed by a teacher.
- Students must access the device via the School Internet Firewall are not allowed to download any VPN or proxy websites.
- Students may not record/upload images (still or moving) of other students or members of staff.
- Use of unauthorized social media platforms is prohibited.
- Devices should be fully charged at home and capable of lasting the full school day without recharging.
- The school management reserves the right to discipline the students and disconnect devices or disable services without notification if devices are misused as per the Behaviour for Learning – BYOD/ICT Consequence Ladder.
